MAN OF THE SOUTH
Character
In this short story I have an analysis. In the story I get several characters.
They are Carlos, he is American boy. This man wears a large creamy Panama hat, perfect
white suit and white buckskin shoes. He is a small and oldest man who looks
like a sort of a South American, and had pale, almost colorless eyes with tiny
bright black pupils. Carlos describes himself as a rich and sporting man but
the truth is that he lies to the people about owning sleek Pale green Cadillac.
The main character in this story is Carlos. The second character is an American
boy. The third character is an English girl. The fourth character is a Spanish
woman who has a small, black hair. The fifth character is the referee as the
one who tells the story. The last is the maid who works for Carlos. In this story the main character talked about
how Carlos saw from my analyses.
Setting
In the first part, the time is at evening sun. The place of this morning is
held on swimming pool. Then, the action moves to the bar which is near with a
garden and pool. It is a fine garden with lawns and beds of azaleas and tall
coconut palms. The wind is blowing strongly through the tops of the palm trees
making the leaves hiss and crackle as though they are on fire. There are
clusters of big brown nuts hanging down underneath the leaves. In the pool
itself there are three or four girls and about a dozen boys, all splashing
about and making a lot of noise and throwing a large rubber ball at one
another.
Plots
Plot of
this story has three of part, there are beginning, climax and resolution.
-
There several people
who gather at a bar, this is beginning. All of the character has met there.
-
The climax of the
story happens when the Carlos and the boy starts the bet. The boy can strike
the lighter until seven times. After that, there is a woman coming into the
room, interrupting the bet, and gets angry to Carlos.
-
The end of this
story is when the people there know about the truth of Carlos who actually has
lost everything because of his weird bet. He has taken forty-seven fingers of
the people and lost seven cars. It is such a sad story because the woman has
lost many of her fingers in order to win seven cars from Carlos.
Theme
Thinking
the risk before make a deal with some one didn’t knowing before, because this
is dangerous.
Moral value
First, we should be careful when interacting with
stranger you do not know him at all, moreover, when we should have a deal with
him. Second, betting is not a good choice because you bet something for
uncertain benefits. In addition, many people have been fooled because of this
thing.
